An apartment does not make everything but nothing is possible without.
It is for this reason that the self-help house (Selbsthilfehaus) at Oderberger Straße 12 is an essential part in the fight against the housing problem. Given the obvious lack of cheap housing and the drop of the help of real-estate industries, the intervention in this domain was becoming essential.
Between 1999 and 2003 mob e. V. renewed an ancient building within the framework of the "National Program for Housing". The work was realized by former homeless people with the technical advice of professionals. It enabled to create 18 apartments and two offices.
The example of Oderberger Straße shows that it is possible to lead to end an ambitious project of renovation, in association with homeless persons. On this base we can henceforth move to the following stage, namely to lead the other projects in the neighbourhood.
The association manages the house itself, and has for it, a narrow contact with all the people who work in it as well as with the tenants. When an apartment is available, this one is attributed first and foremost to homeless people or people in trouble.
