mob e.V. - Goals and Offers

"The purpose of the association is the improvement of the standard of living of the persons discriminated and excluded socially, notably the homeless persons and the persons in trouble. These persons have to have the possibility of putting a lot into what interests them, to build and realize initiatives and projects, and so to improve their living conditions.”  (§ 2 of the Articles of  Association)

Over the years, we developed various offers and working propositions to encourage the autonomy of the poor persons and the homeless persons:

The sale of the street newspaper strassenfeger constitutes one of the main sources of income for the homeless persons and the poor persons and helps them to improve their financial situation. Selling this newspaper also puts forward the initiatives of these persons. 

The day care center Treffpunkt Kaffee Bankrott is opened all week long, from 8:00 am to 20:00 pm. Every day various courses are proposed. There is also a  possibility of consulting Internet free of charge, of benefiting from legal and social councelling service, of playing games, of reading newspapers …

The emergency night shelter is also opened seven days a week, all year long. There are separate dormitories for men and women, showers and the possibility there of washing your stuff. Dogs are also accepted.

The "self-help house” in Oderberger Straße 12, offers 18 apartments from 40 to 90 m ² with a fixed rent, as well as two working domains (accounts and second-hand articles departments). The retrofit of the 130 years old tenement biulding took place from 1999 until 2003 by the active assistance of 15 homeless men and women. The house is an essential contribution in the fight to help the homeless persons because here some had the possibility to create their own flats by themselves.

At the second-hand branch (Trödel), the other important economic support of the association, furniture, furnishing and household articles of all kinds, but also books, disks, games for children, etc are sold cheap. All these objects are donations of the Berliners to the association mob - obdachlose machen mobil e. V.

The web site www.strassenfeger.org assures the communication of the association by publishing information and makes the work of mob e.V. transparent for a wide public. A news-letter is regularly published.
